The UP Diliman Department of Mechanical Engineering extends its warmest congratulations to the UPD Graduate Team who bagged awards in the 2023 Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools (IDEERS) Competition.
The team consisting of Ian-Will IbaƱez, Alyannah Terite and Marcus Karl Evangelista from UP Institute of Civil Engineering, and our very own faculty member Albert Fibra Jr. successfully bagged the following awards:
– Structural Design Award
– Aesthetic Award
– Design Concept Exhibition Award
– Best Presentation
The team is coached by UP ICE faculty members Asst. Prof. Julius Rey Baniqued and Dr. Pher Errol Quinay.
Held in the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering, Taipei, Taiwan, IDEERS aims to promote earthquake engineering and seismic protection education while students participate in a creative scientific competition of designing a building model to be subjected to simulated earthquake loads.
